The Power of Scholarships
“My family and I were worried about being able to afford the fees to attend
UC Riverside. [We] were incredibly excited and grateful for such a blessing."
Melissa Owraghi, Scholarship recipient
Scholarships reward excellence. But, more importantly, scholarships inspire excellence. In areas as diverse as academics, the arts, leadership, and athletics, scholarships give students the opportunity to hone their talents, further their studies, and attain their college degree. Talent is recognized. Need is met. And outstanding achievement is rewarded.
In today’s economic climate it is critically important that students become aware of the many financial aid and scholarship opportunities available. UCR students are eligible to receive scholarships from a variety of sources. Many scholarships awarded to incoming students by the UCR Financial Aid Office, such as the Regents & Chancellor's Scholarships, are based on academic excellence. UC Riverside students are eligible to receive scholarships from a variety of sources, including the UC Riverside Financial Aid Office, as well as other sources. Awards can be based on a variety of criteria, including financial need, good grades, special talents, leadership ability, and future careers. Best of all, unlike some other forms of financial aid, scholarships do not have to be repaid.
